REHAB STAGE

Patient’s condition

Sustained an ACL injury combined with a MCL injury during a soccer match

Patient’s concerns

Concerned about permanent instability if the MCL did not heal properly.

When were the braces proposed?

Before the exact nature of the injury was confirmed and before the patient consulted an orthopedic surgeon for diagnostics, we utilized a Zamst brace to support the MCL.

Why were braces proposed?

Literature indicates that bracing the MCL for six weeks, initiated within two weeks after the injury, leads to significant recovery of the ligament.

Brace recommended

ZK-X , hinged knee brace

The hinged support stabilizes the medial and lateral movement the most.

Other training protocol

In addition to the bracing protocol, prehab was initiated with a focus on achieving full knee extension and maintaining overall muscle strength prior to the surgery.

REHAB STAGE

Patient’s condition

Sustained an ACL injury, wanting to resume skiing after 12 months but had stopped the sports due to psychological factors. All the patient’s test results were excellent, indicating that skiing without a brace should be feasible.

Patient’s concerns

The patient felt apprehensive and found skiing intimidating.

Why were braces proposed?

To help address the patients’ psychological aspect.

Brace recommended

ZK-Motion knitted knee brace

Other training protocol

In addition to further rehabilitation, the patient is also undergoing a program with a sports psychologist.

Kevin’s comments

The psychological aspect is crucial, and identifying and addressing it is essential to help the patient progress in their recovery process. Research shows that reduced psychological readiness increases the risk of re-rupture.
